CONFIDENT ENGLISH COMMUNICATION

In-Person Classes

Master English fluency with confidence through the power of music
SING, LEARN, SUCCEED

Increase your awareness of speaking English pronunciation through singing, phonetics and musical expression

Learn English Through SInging The Sharkey Method™ (LETS) in-person classes are designed to educate and empower English-language learners to understand what physical adjustments they need to make in their mouth, their specific target sounds, and demystify their challenging words on the spot...while using the power of singing as tool to target those goals.

LETS is offered weekly over 11-12 weeks
from September to December, and January to April. Classes are held at MacEwan University's School of Continuing Education in collaboration with the Alberta Music Education Foundation in Edmonton, Canada. The in-person course is offered to students who register in the Pronunciation I Course (course #EOPT 060) or the Pronunciation II Course (course #EOPT 061) of the English as an Additional Language (EAL) program at MacEwan University.

Students sing simple contemporary English pop songs, learn how to pronounce each word correctly, work on their English language skills, and learn the context and the idiomatic expressions expressed in each song. The final session of the course is a short, live student concert featuring the students of LETS performing as a group some their favourite songs from the course in front of family and friends - and celebrating their achievement and completion of the course.
